Discipline Begets Discipline
Being an author and repping Patch (who most of Patch's clients are outside the US on different time zones) I confess, I am usually a night-owl and late morning snoozer. But not this week. This week I have been out of bed at 5:45 (yes AM)! Yes, me!
Why? You may ask. Have I gone crazy? Wasn't this why I quit my job?...so I could let other people see the sun rise?
The Answer: Four Women- One Goal.
The Tri Divas are guilty for making me change my routine. The Tri Divas = Amy Nave, Anna Quinlan, Vanessa Felts & me. We have been in the pool, on the bike or in our running shoes as early as 6:00 a.m. doing between 60 min- 120 mins of exercise. We have all signed up to go longer than any of us have gone before and complete our first long coarse triathlon (1 mile swim, 34 mile bike, 10 mile run) on Aug 25 in Santa Barbara.
You think we'd be hating life, but it is the funnest thing ever and we're all having a blast. So far it's been loads of fun and lots of laughs.
Some of the weeks highlights including being chased by a dog, 1 over-snoozer, chain falling off, a bottle of wine & a 1 carton of ice cream.
It has taught me two things:
1. Anything can be fun with the right people
2. Discipline begets discipline - have have been loving the
3. The body and the mind work best when they both get a work out
4. The soul and the body loves to be pushed
5. Challenge is easier and more fun in a group- why do things alone?

When I first started triathalons the first team we made (4 of us) was "Team Fat Bastard"
I'm not 100% sure but I think the other 3 were trying to name it after me - It took awhile but I figured out which size of slushee cups fit in our water bottle holders. That made for better rides on hot days when I got to lead our pack.
It made for a funny time race day. I remember hearing "And coming off the bike is LP from Team Fat Bas...", with the announcer stopping mid sentance, pausing, and moving right onto announcing another biker as fast as he could.
you= my hero!
"4 women - 1 goal" - Sounds like a TV show in the making!
People are what it's all about! And if you've got a group of motivated people... look out!
Too true about the body and mind working best when they get a work out!
Yeah...and you forgot to mention that we have only been doing "prep" work so far...ahhh! :)
This was the greatest idea EVER! I am so pumped!
p.s. Although I will not object to being called a Diva....we still need to come up with a team name!
Next Friday...workout, happy hour, team-naming party!
ahhhhh, I can't wait for monday:)
Miss you girls:)
That's so cool! Good for you for doing this AND having fun while doing it!
